To know the root of my work is to know that I have a deep relationship with Christ, and in that, I have traveled all over the Midwest learning trades that have come together to help me create. I am known for my Jeweler and ceramic skills but I have a love for many mediums.

Put on the Armor
My artwork is the physical representation of the strength I receive from my relationship with God. This body of work is comprised of six stand-alone articles of armor originally derived from the Armor of God described in the writings of the Bible in Ephesians 6:10-20 and is titled “Put on the Armor”.
In Ephesians 6, God equips us with six tools to prepare us for battle: truth, righteousness, the gospel of peace, faith, salvation, and the holy spirit. He pairs these six tools with tangible material to represent how each should be used. The truth is a belt buckled around your waist, fastened tightly and secure. Righteousness is secured to your chest as a breastplate covering and protecting your heart. The feet are shod in peace and represent how you will go forth in your journey. Faith is represented by the shield which is held before you to protect you from the blows of evil. The helmet is Salvation to encompass your head and protect your mind. The sword, which is the word of God; strong, unwavering, unbreakable, and when wielded with skill and knowledge is your ultimate protection. To make the Armor of God easier to understand I removed the figurative aspect and focused on developing the iconic articles of armor out of sculpted clay. Ascending from the armor is a cluster of birds soaring upward, portraying freedom coming from the safety allowed by this spiritual armor. There are three birds to represent the Holy Trinity but are in suit to serve as one, the wearer of the armor.
